Modern Flair

I was looking through Elle Decor and came across this 'Asian Inspired California home'.
I'm really not sure how I feel about an entire home with modern decor.

When I was a girl growing up my parents had Scandinavian teak furniture with curvy lines.

As I have grown and developed my own style there are some things with straight lines I can embrace.

I'm just not so into 'retro'.
I could 'do' the concrete counter tops here!
Tell me what you think?
I love fabrics and comfy looking furniture.

A Day to Remember

God Bless America

Land that I love

(even when disaster strikes)

Stand beside her, and guide her

Thru the night with a light from above

From the mountains, to the prairies

To the oceans, white with foam

God bless America
My home sweet home.

I am thankful to the men and women who fight for our freedom
and remember that freedom is not free

Serena and Lily!

That bicycle caught my eye!

2 Gals

Serena
and Lily

different backgrounds

instant bond
common desire

love kids
put their heads together
and as long as it takes to grow a baby
a collection of bedding for the nursery and children's rooms was born!

then by fan demand

and a desire to have some of their savvy blend of dynamic of color and pattern for grown-ups

they got their fingers into more pots

and expanded their unique blend of simplicity and sophistication
which bloomed into full home decor! I thoroughly enjoyed their sense of color and pattern, I know you will too!

In-store experts are on hand to offer design advice and help in decision making. New products such as curtains, furniture, hardware, lighting, and wallpaper—including items previously available only online—will be showcased with samples, swatches, background information, and care instructions. Regular events will allow design experts to advise and instruct all manner of enthusiasts, from the curious to the devoted. An online component will launch soon. anthropologie.com

Riding with the Wounded Warriors

As a patriotic Americans and cyclists, my girlfriend Susan (also a Boston marathon finisher!)
and I are riding 50 miles with some of our brave soldiers who have given of themselves for the freedoms we share in this country.

The Alliance Ride is a well designed 25 mile loop through the city of Alpharetta.  Those wanting a bigger challenge can take the course twice to race the half century distance of 50 miles.  The start of the race is fast and flat, and stays gently rolling for the remainder of the ride until you reach the last 2 miles.  You will break up any lactic acid build up for a final fun climb to the sprint finish line.

If you are in the area and out and about, please come by and show your support to our warriors.

Project Monday

Working on the garden still
I have a plan (really!)
actually love terra cotta
but just not here, oops too white
found some green from my closet redo,
 much better!
I love hibiscus but they don't fare well in GA over the winter.  I brought one indoors this past winter and it survived. I love the twisted  trunk on this one!
Plants loosely placed, still need to add a couple of more shrub type in the back before I get to digging. I'm loving the white garden so far, it will be so pretty once it's matured a bit.
Tara Dillard says the color in our garden should be an extension of what's in our home.
So from the family room window
a little color - my grass is still recovering from winter, my not so patient self is wishing it would hurry up! It's so ugly right now.
The pot in back turned out so well
two for the front

Have you ever seen a hibiscus like this? It's call hibis-kiss! The colors are scrumptious.
I promise to not bore you anymore with this....well until it's grown up a bit!

Tornado Devastation

May I say to people all across the south
my heart aches and prayers are constantly with you.
We cannot understand the devastation and the loss you have experienced.
I pray His peace that passes all understanding will be yours.
Mr. MD works for FEMA and is on the ground in AL coordinating relief from local, state, and federal.
