Project Monday...The Blue Ones

I got the giggles so fiercely when hubby and I were decorating the tree over the weekend.
Greg and Geoff took over hanging the lights about 12 or 13 years ago and I got the job back this year. The memories flooded of times past playing Christmas music, baking cookies together and reminiscing about the ornaments as each were being pulled out of the box.  A few tears came to the surface.

You know when you pull out the pre-boxed ornaments and there are some not ever used?  Wonder why they were kept?

Right about the time I was going to tell hubby that I don't use the blue ones, he was hanging his first ornament...BLUE! I laughed so hard and asked where he has been for the last almost 32 years?

Then asked him where in our home did I decorate with blue?  He grinned and began looking around...too funny, I promise he DOES live here.  May I say 'typical'?

We spend all of our time in the FR but I did a little vignette in the LR.

I cannot get away from my love of hydrangeas and silver.  The collection of spoons is from my travels over the years and the opera glasses from the Paris flea market.

This is the first time in a very long time that hubby joined in, he usually was happy to watch the boys and me while sipping hot chocolate and singing carols. We had a good time.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I am a simple girl of simple pleasures! I am happiest when sharing my life with close friends and family. I am not an 'I want' sort of girl so I really don't have a wishlist.  Come on over won't you and let's enjoy each others' company!

Let's share s'mores....mmmm, nothing better than dripping chocolate!

And with that, more chocolate.....

...hot with peppermint schnapps.

McDreamy to me!

I once had a Frenchman give me two bottles, I was hooked.
Nothing else compares not even 'Dom' in my book. So after the hot schnapps chocolate, or maybe before, let's pop some of this divine bubbly!

Because I am a note writer, I always have a supply of beautiful papers on hand. Hannah Nation is the creator of Gadabout, purveyor of these and many other fun designs. She has so many beauties it's hard to choose, these are just a tease, go see for yourself! She will put your monogram on any you choose.

Like I said before, simple pleasures.  My favorite fragrance.

Now I told you these were a few of my favorite things, so for you bicycle enthusiasts out there like me, this is a 'must have'!

The Garmin Edge 705,
a GPS-enable cycling computer which includes a heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor!  It also tells how many calories burned on your ride (my favorite part) as well as elevation climbed.  Now I know YOU just can't live without one of these!

May I challenge you?

Read and you will be changed.
Let me hear your thoughts when you are finished.

Won't you go to World Vision and put a goat (or chickens or sheep) on your gift giving list? Goats nourish hungry children and families with healthy milk, cheese, and yogurt. They also give a much-needed income boost by providing offspring and extra dairy products for sale at the market. Our family has sponsored two children by way of WV for over 12 years, a goat or two are on the way.

Go here to the Lisa Porter Collection and see what is on hers and others' gift lists!

Project Monday

A blustery wintry day was perfect for cutting evergreens and arranging in pots

for the annual ladies tea and dinner being held at our church tomorrow night.

A room filled to capacity (600) with laughter and joy will enjoy tea and a beautiful dinner to start the festivities of the Christmas season.  Each hostess lovingly sets her table, mine you see here and each of my guests will go home with her own pot of evergreens!
Just for fun too, I am going to add party crackers to each place setting....not the kind of cracker you eat  but the kind of cracker you *pop*!

Project Monday

My version of Martha Stewart's inspiration seen here.

The fall color is beautiful still here in Georgia.
The leaves are rapidly falling, the grass is now a beautiful honey color and winter is coming!

Lucky for me I just went around the back yard (and a little beyond) to find a good variety.

I found a vessel that would work
(from hubby's collection, not really my style)

stuffed it with paper

added dry floral oasis

and got to creating!

My friend Jeanne at Sophie Day Designs mixes live florals with her silks

so I added some silk sunflowers I had in my fall decor bin.

I am not a huge seasonal decorator so this brings a bit of the season inside!

A little pop for the front entry too!

Simplicity on the DR table....I could have sworn I had more of these candles....off to Pier 1!

What little projects are you up to?
