On the Road Again

Casa de Moore has been busy with house guests.
It's a joy to fluff and fuss.

The linens are changed and ready for an out of town client to come for a visit

AFTER

my trip to Seattle this weekend to see my son and his fiance.

Yep....I'M GOING TO BE A MOTHER IN LAW!

Have a good weekend.  I am excited to get to show you what the Vamp and I were up to when she was here!

I stole the bedroom image from somewhere, anyone know where?

Hospitality

I take great pleasure in having friends come stay at my home.

I was delighted that Valorie Hart, the VisualVamp asked if she could stay with me while attending the
Vision International Window Expo.
She was graciously asked by Jackie Von Toble (Jackie Blue Home) to sit on a panel of bloggers to discuss the importance and value of blogging in the design industry. Jackie is one dynamo lady.  Gracious, kind and generous.

Valorie flew in from New Orleans last Thursday and one would have thought we had been girlfriends forever.  I met her a bit over a year ago in NOLA at the store she works in, Perch, and we hit it off and have been email and bloggy friends since.  This is a crazy world we live in....love it!  We 'shopped' my home and re-styled it.  SO MUCH FUN.  Will post pix later, I have a little painting to do first!

(interesting unprepared 'pose' for the camera guy on my part....oh well)

A few of us got together for dinner at the oh so yummy
Rathbun's in Atlanta.

I was sad to see Valorie go, next time Baby....it's NOLA time!

Project Monday: Hanging Flower Baskets

Springtime means flower time and I adore hanging flower baskets.
I am not much of a gardner though.

They add a bit of glamour to an otherwise boring facade.

I love a variety of colors but it's keeping them alive that is the hard part.

Daily watering is required.

This is the front of my home last year where I opted for ferns.

This year I decided to plant my own.
Tuesday Morning had a great price on the hanging baskets with the seagrass (about half the price of Home Depot and Lowes).
I wish I had a potting bench like my friend Lisa at The Lisa Porter Collection, she has a lovely garden, be sure to stop by.
.

I picked up geraniums and am fairly certain they will bloom in a lovely salmon color.
I centered one in each basket.

Then added potting soil all around...

...and finished with white impatiens all around.
The purple petunias in previous picture are for another part of the yard.

They look a bit wimpy now but I know it won't be long before they will be spilling over.

Hmmmm, I just need to be patient for the 'wimpiness' to grow.
Patience is NOT one of my virtues.

Mondays are such a great day to get projects done, go visit Susan at
Between Naps on the Porch and see what she and others are up to!

Suzanne Kasler - In Her Office

I had the good fortune to meet Suzanne Kasler briefly at an event at Atlanta's Americas Mart a year or so ago. (here) I would enjoy very much sitting with her and chatting about design and soaking in a wee bit of her talent.  She and her office are being featured in the May issue of Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles magazine.  I urge you to get a copy and thumb the pages, you are sure to not be disappointed.

Her office is full of light and keeps a beautiful neutral palate.  She is located at the Galleries of Peachtree Hills, right next door to Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, I wonder if she needs an errand run?

There are oversized drum shades (by Boyd Lighting) defining each work area (with the scanned photo, the shade over the one table is not visible).  The half wall of shelves and drawers (from Ikea) provide privacy for the design team behind them.  The ottoman you see is from Suzanne's collection for Hickory Chair.

This wall of baskets with fabrics and other design elements is just what I need!
Tables from West Elm, chairs from Pottery Barn, Circa Lighting.

Here you can also see her design team at work.  Suzanne has her hand in many 'pots'.  She and her team work on new product development including her line at Hickory Chair, as well as, lighting with Visual Comfort and rugs by Safavieh.  She has already begun styling with Ballard Designs and this fall will introduce accessories, rugs and wall art.  A year from now, Spring 2011, her fabric collection with Lee Jofa will debut as outlined in the article.

A design project in action.

I wonder, with all that Suzanne has going on if she gets much sleep.

Be sure and check out the full article at Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.

I would have never thought I would live in Atlanta where there is so much design talent.  I am grateful for all of the events that center around design here!

Project Monday

A couple of weeks ago when I did the kitchen chairs,  I told you the dining room chairs would be next, so here they are.  I am fortunate to have my grandmother's Duncan Phyfe, original circa 1940-ish table and 8 chairs and have had them for 16 years now.  Of course, over the years they have had many changes.

This fabric has been on for 5 years or so, definitely in need of an updating.

The seats unscrew easily and I gave all the wood a good cleaning, where did all that dust come from anyway?

This is the fabric that was on the chairs when I got them from my grandmother, I have kept it under all the many changes that I have done just as a reminder of her, whom we called "Punkin" a nickname my grandfather gave her when they were courting.

Here is the fabric I have chose for this 'season' of the chairs' life!

I decided where I would try to position the fabric on all of the chairs, keeping one paisley in the center.

They came out pretty nice, don't you think?

Pop on over to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch and visit her Metamorphosis Monday party and see what others are doing on their projects.
