Project Monday

I showed you these two girls a couple of weeks ago.
My girlfriend and I are doing a little bartering.
You know I have done some furniture painting but I haven't actually stripped varnish in quite some time.
These sisters were born in 1964 and whoever put the fabric on went absolutely nuts with the staple gun...look how close together the staples are.  The glue that held on the trim was some super duper never gonna go anywhere type too.
The insides looked pretty good considering the age.
I couldn't decide if I wanted to undo the tufting but once I started with the chemicals I knew I needed to.  Plus the girls needed some airing out.
Nothing better than getting new petticoats. :)
They cleaned up pretty good.
Now comes the fun part, I have an idea.
Will let you know next time!

Foodie Friday

I am not a vegan but love fresh raw food.
It's good for you ya know?
Raw Vegan Tacos
The colors alone should entice you. I'm not a collard green fan, leafy green lettuce would be tasty as well!
Apples and Poppyseed Coleslaw
Mr. MD and I eat lots of coleslaw it is great anti-cancer food.
Red and green cabbage, carrot and apple, what could be simpler?
I like mine lightly dressed!

Have you been out to your garden lately?
I love baby's breath, it's great by itself in jars and placed around your home.

Antiques and Mirrors

I'm telling you, shopping sure wears a girl out! I have been on the hunt for some antiques for one of my clients. Atlanta has no shortage of great places to look for hidden treasures.

This is a Queen Ann Oyster Burl Walnut chest with bun feet, circa 1780. The wood is just gorgeous and is in unbelievable shape for how long she's been around.

This is the younger sister...circa 1840.
I found this and the one below in 2 different places, definitely same vintage.
Louis XVI, early 1900's.

Don't you just love those cords....not.
Even though a display, I would have done something with them.

18th century Rococo gilded wrought iron, early 20th century.
Isn't she lovely?
Louis XV, circa 1840.
Wood gilt, 19th century. I love mirrors. My design partner asked how many mirrors I wanted to use.  The living room and dining room are small, mirrors create a great illusion of 'larger'!
Not antique, but a purdy one.
I like to make sure all of the bedrooms I decorate have a good (long if possible) mirror so that guests can get a full view when getting dressed.
Distressed wood, reproduction.
This isn't for client but thought these were so much fun.
I think my kids in Washington state would like them!
Wood or iron.

Mixed Musings

Thought today was Wednesday...but it's Tuesday.
It's been a wee bit busy around Casa de Moore.

This morning we were blessed with some rain and I love looking out and seeing the gardens after they've been refreshed.
This spring we finally planted this bed.
I can see this from my kitchen window.  Erma (the dog) loves looking out to see if she can see 'Mr. Chippy'.
Just got these little gems from a friend, stripping them down and putting some pretty finish on them, not sure what just yet and have some yummy fabric in mind.

Wondering WHAT is behind that blue tarp?
1971 Corvette Stingray, English Green
Mr. MD is out of town...taking the highest bidder!  hehe

My neighbor has the most beautiful yard and gardens.  She calls me to go over and cut her hydrangea...am I lucky or what?  I'm addicted to them, have probably too many around the casa  and always add to client's homes.
Gonna go get some more!

Design Dilema

Ok Friends...I need help...Please!

One of MD's projects is a basement bedroom with two HUGE eyesores.
This corner is the upper right side of the room that stares you right in the face when entering and the 'things' you see are weird cover-ups for the main water lines. I can take the covers off so that's not a problem as far as hanging anything.  I did a little art work on 3 small (9"x12") canvas' thinking I could stagger...nope, would need 5 of that size.  A long slender canvas would be fine but what I have seen are not long enough.
In the opposite corner, a cable and electrical outlet to mount a corner TV, would you want watch something that high up?  Anyway, had thought about taking window treatments across the entire wall, but as you can see from the first picture the window sits back from the wall and it doesn't match the right side.  Picture an "L" shape.

Tell me too..what in the heck is in the minds of some folks that finish basements 'after the fact'?
Just had euros made out of this.
Will definitely do a 'show and tell' when all the parts and pieces come together.

You guys are smart...help a girl out!

Story Telling

What do you think of this color story?
Just checking in, blogging on the iPad is not the best. Spent all day at a design center making up stories!
