Random Things I Like!

It has been a crazy few days around here, NEED to do paperwork, but DON'T want to.

I LIKE things orderly...

Of course you KNOW I like Silver. What a fun way to display towels in the bathroom.

OR...
...short on space?

How about an office in a closet?

where are YOUR tools?

Perhaps scattered?

EASY!!! Pegboard nailed to drywall...everything UP off the floor.

OR...

I LIKEY!

This too....

Why not add some colour to your laundry room?

I likey a lot.

I told you this was random...

Love all the colours in this room. A bit of symmetry, a bit of whimsey.

Do YOU like order or organized chaos?

Do YOU know where everything is...

...that you need to put your hand on?

Friday Flowers!

I LOVE arranging flowers.

What a fabulous sink this is....not only for cleaning and pruning flowers...

...but ALSO putting beverages on ICE for a party!

Great architectural legs on this utility sink. I would have cabinets on the opposite wall for storage of all my containers, frogs, oasis, pins, tape, etc...

How about a potting shed with a counter at just the right height?

Maybe a little something more upscale off the garage?

Perhaps I could put something together as beautiful as this!

Does Anybody Know What Time It Is?

Which do YOU fancy?

I wonder why I like clocks so much?

Could it be my neurosis is always knowing what time it is?

I HATE being LATE.

I don't like people waiting on me.

The early bird gets the worm.

If I am early I can....just.... breathe!

Bill Ingram, Beautiful Lake Home

There is something about being on the water to me that is so refreshing. All the smells and sounds of life other than our own, the rising or setting of the sun, or just the tranquility of sitting out in the evenings and enjoying the stillness of the water.

We all read the same design magazines and different articles speak to each of us differently. The current issue of Southern Accents has a delightful spread on Birmingham, AL, architect Bill Ingram's Lake Martin home southeast of the city.

An outdoor tablescape done right...notice the TALL iron candelabras so not to obstruct conversation at the table? This setting is perfect for Spring or Fall...less heat and no bugs, but in the summertime it can be taken inside to the screened porch. Can't you just hear lively conversation echoing off the lake?

I like very much the style of this living area. Ingram says it's the hub of the house, with a beamed ceiling of bleached cypress, antique oak floors (to die for) and lots of natural light.
I love the creativity of a fitted cloth over a wooden coffee table...the color adds a nice punch to the room. Notice the binoculars too, who knows what kind of birds might be seen or fish jumping.

Ingram prefers to entertain his friends outside but there are times that the festivities must be brought inside. Love the "manly" wing chairs at the dining table.

Here's a better look at the oak floors in the kitchen which leads out to the screened in porch.
Simple design, such a great island and how about the "beehive" pendants? Both are from South of Market here in Atlanta.

Another view of the floors...I am coveting them.

Great oversize door and the Waterworks tub, shower is just outside to "marry the best of indoors and out."

Where do you like to go that is a peaceful place?

May I VENT?

We all make mistakes.

But we don't LIKE to.

Clashing colours...(I know I am American, but I like the way the Brits, Canadians and Europeans spell colour...I WAS born in England, good enough for me.)

Picture from Colour Me Happy blog written by Maria Killam, go here to see
why the colours in the sofa and walls clash....it has to do with UNDERTONES.

We ARE Professionals.

What? WE ARE NOT PERFECT?

MY design project in northern Virginia, wall colour and silk drapes CLASH.

OH MY.

New wall colour chosen. All WILL BE well.

Cut my own bangs today...tired of them in my eyes....

...so choppy and uneven, feel like kindergardner...sigh.

I now know why Atlanta is called "hot-lanta". Hot flashes and hot weather do not jive.

Can you say "sweatball"?

Ok...ENOUGH of THAT!

A happy place....and Friday Flowers!

I found these hydrangeas on the back side of a bush in my yard....why aren't they on the front?

I brought back some hydrangeas from friends in DC and added them to my dried collection above my sink.

...for as long as I can remember I have had a dried collection of flowers from different
times and events in a place for me to see. I wonder WHY I want dead flowers...

Friday Garden

I really enjoy beautiful gardens....

...I might say I am "hooked" on them. This beauty is my mother-in-law's in Tennessee. She loves to putter and prune and gets so much joy from her little space. Isn't it beautiful?
What are you HOOKED on? Why don't you visit Julia at Hooked on Houses and see what others are hooked on!

I will be out of town for a few days...have a great weekend and "see" you next week!

Setting Silver!

I LOVE Silver! I like to decorate with it and wear it. All of my jewelry is SILVER, except my wedding band. When selecting home accessories, that is what I usually oooh and aaaah over!

A lovely non-traditional tea set.

Fun collection of spoons....

Silver rimmed plates....beautiful.

Small arrangement of flowers....oh and the mirror....lovely.

I've posted this photo before....just love it. Eucalyptus is one of my favorite greenery.

This is my own....

...a closer look. REALLY NEED to polish that silver!

Dessert anyone? Love the mixture of colors and SILVER!

What is your favorite element to decorate with? What do you naturally gravitate towards?

Be sure and visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch today and see how others are setting their tables on this Tablescape Thursday.

I Like This! Fresh Air Rooms.

Outdoor Living!

The lattice detail here is stunning...I think sitting out here one would get the feeling of being in a tree house with all the lush greenery.

This shady loggia was nothing more than a walkway from the house to the backyard. Now, notice the antique iron lampposts and metal arbor give these vines a place to grow and create a roof for this outdoor room. Concrete pavers in two colors created this checkerboard floor that contrasts nicely wi th the striped fabric on the chairs. I love all the flowers in the pots, wouldn't this be a great setting to sit and enjoy your morning coffee?

Monday Monday

I have some zipping around to do....

...it would be so nice if it were cool enough to zip around on this yellow bicycle with the fabulous hydrangeas in the basket. Fifi should paint for her collection of bicycles!

What Are You Reaching For?

What is YOUR dream? What are you striving for? Are you almost there?
What steps are you taking to get there?

Along the way of YOUR journey, are you reaching out to others and giving a helping hand? Many times we get caught up in OUR own selves and do not see the need of another. I would love to hear what you are REACHING for.
