This and That

While working on projects for others today I came across some of 'this and that' for my own design projects.

I'm loving this wall color Suzanne Kasler used in a home she designed the interiors for in Greenwich, CT.  We have a lot of millwork in our home in white contrasted to the wall color.  My next painting project will be to paint all trims in a semi-gloss in the same color of the walls in quiet neutrals.

I never thought I would entertain painting antique furniture but I am starting to round the corner on this.  This black on black is very intriguing.

The family room sofa was upholstered 3 years ago before I began reading design blogs and being inspired by neutral bases with color used in other ways.  I am soooo itching to reupholster the sofa.  Found a perfect linen yesterday.  Think I'll have to wait until Mr. MD is out of town!

If you are like me, you are ready for spring and to have color popping all around.  I was able to get out in some of the beds the other day, more work to do to get ready to plant some color!

Happy Weekend!

Carnations

My favorite flowers are tulips, sunflowers and hydrangeas.
Carnations are not a 'go to' for me.

But honestly when I was perusing
Coastal Living

and saw the ways these were put together

I had to change my mind a bit.

These certainly are not the long stemmed red version we all got as teenagers. I adore these pink to saturated purple hues.

Cute, eh?

Do you do carnations?

Sentiments

Thinking today of my boys who are now grown

and have Valentines of their own

I dug in my box of mementoes

and saw their hearts

as they grew.

Their sweetness and love of 'mom'

went from drawings to the electronic age.

Then to 'grown up' cards.

If you've had little boys in your life, you know there is always an abundance of 'air'. : )

Even though the boys have grown, there is this 'one boy' who has been around and put up with me for 32 years!

Crazy Hearts

Sometimes when you're not even looking

hearts are found in the craziest places!

What lengths have you gone to share your love?

Maybe some sentiments are just found

naturally.

Perhaps on a hike you stumble upon this.

Look hard, can you see it?

Lucky clover.

Beautiful.

hmmm...not bad eh?
Perhaps your love is bold?

Happy Valentines Day!
My hope is that you feel loved whether or not you have a 'special' one.

Project Monday...Framing

I know it's Tuesday but Monday got entirely away from me.  Do you have framing that you need to get done but keep putting it off?  When I was cleaning out my office closet I came across my 'stash'.

Well over a year ago I bought these water colors from Fifi Flowers.  If you haven't been to her blog, it's definitely a 'go to' stop, she is one talented sistah!

Framing is an investment in itself and not willing to make that investment right now I came up with 'faux' matting and ready made vintage look frames.

Black poster board cut to the same size as the glass.

Prints measured and marked

and trimmed evenly all the way around.

Double stick tape

with print centered on the poster board.

Not bad eh?  Unfortunately the glass is not non-glare which is my preference.

Erma overseeing the whole process, she's such a good helper!

This print wasn't making it in a guest room...

...not bad for eye-balling it!
Mr. MD, my handyman was fortunately at work, because he would have had the tape measure or laser beam out.

Nice addition don't you think?

Sugarboo Designs

Recently a friend of mine in Virginia called and said she had seen Sugarboo Designs in a magazine and was I familiar?!

I was not but quickly found they have their design warehouse right down the road from me and a showroom at Atlanta's America's Mart. I look forward to visiting!

Rebecca Puig is the artist (and owner along with her husband) behind Sugarboo Designs and named it from the nicknames she has of her children.

Her inspiration comes from them

and she wants to create products that remind us of those we love!

She designs with old and new in mind as well as hard and soft elements and sentimental mixed with modern.

As I was navigating around the website I realized there were so many of her designs I adore.

You know when you are out shopping and you see this and this and this and that and that and that that you want?

365 Gathered Thoughts
filled with various quotes on handcrafted paper about life, love and happiness.

How about designing your very own crest?

I placed an order for my friend and me and now have ready for shipment to my son and his bride the large burlap pillow (on the left).

Be sure and visit Sugarboo here and look at all of their wonderful designs. My scanning does not do justice. If you find something you cannot live without, let me know and I will order it for you!
