Beamed Ceilings

Mr. MD and I have begun to think about and make plans to head west - the Rockies or the Pacific Northwest - in the next few years.
We want a'woodsy' feel but not 'cabin in the woods' for our primary residence.
My design boards on Pinterest are filled with many rooms that have beamed or coffered ceilings.
I like both natural and painted.

Like the black and white, I would lighten the walls more here. (we're looking at ceilings here, not decor)  :)
Detailed ceilings add a great deal of interest to a room. Love the floors here too!

If we end up in the northwest where it rains a good bit I don't want the rooms to appear dark.
I know the walls will be creamy.

These are some great inspirational photos.
What do you think?

Foodie Friday

Butterfinger Cake
oh so yummy!

A few years ago one of my dearest friends made this decadent cake and it has been a favorite ever since.
Make a yellow cake according to the box instructions.
While the cake is baking, crush the butterfingers, I like big pieces so I roll with a rolling pin.
Mix together condensed milk and caramel sauce. Bet you can't keep your finger out of this.  Oh my gosh, it's so good.  :)
After cake comes out of the oven,
poke lots of holes all the way through.
The more holes the better to take in all the yummy milk/carmel mixture.
Mmmm.  Start whipping up the heavy whipping cream.
Fold in the butterfingers.  I think I actually I used too many butterfingers - is there such a thing really?
Put the whipping cream butterfinger mixture between the layers.
Need to keep in the fridge!

yellow box cake mix - make 2 layers or 1 9x13
(bake as directed)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 jar carmel sauce
heavy whipping cream (or cool whip)
butterfingers candy

Don't forget to go out and bring some flowers in!

Foodie Friday

 Broccoli and Feta Pasta Salad

serves 4
1 pound mixed tri-color pasta
1 head broccoli, chopped into florets
8 ounces feta cheese
1/2 cup Kalamata olives, pitted and chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
Salt and pepper
Cook the pasta and drain. Cook the broccoli in a heavy frying pan with a little olive oil over medium heat until crisp-tender - 5-7 minutes. Toss with cooked pasta and olives.
Crumble the feta cheese into the pasta. Whisk the oil, vinegar, and salt and pepper and toss with the pasta.

note:  add some grilled chicken and there you have a perfect one dish meal!
It's sunflower season...
go and get yourself some!
One of my faves, how about you!

Flower Power

It's a dreary day here in north Georgia.
I adore allysum and geraniums and was happy to see this morning the baskets starting to spill over.
Happy day to you!

Project Monday

I left you here with the two tables painted two tones and not sure if I was satisfied.
I decided to keep the white and the gray and did a bit of distressing.
Last step...waxing.
You can see my supervisor Erma in the background.
Wax on with a brush to keep it on the lighter side.  I found from the project on my sideboard by putting it on with a rag it is harder to keep even.
Last step after a few hours after application - buffing.
I think they turned out nicely, client is going to be happy.
Here are the two color palette's chosen for the bedroom projects Moore Designs has going on.
Great colors and totally different feels for each room.

Foodie Friday

My friend had outpatient surgery and I wanted to take her a little something to let her know I was thinking about her.
I saw a recipe on Pinterest for no bake energy bites.
Toasted coconut - gotta watch - a few more seconds and those flakes would be more than toasted!
Dried oats (old fashioned, not quick cooked), flax meal, craisins...
... peanut butter (I used natural) and honey.
gimmesomeoven.com  (great recipe site!)

Roll into balls and there you have a great bite of goodness. Perfect for after a workout or a pick-me-up in the afternoon.
Of course I arranged some flowers in a mason jar (my signature) and put the recipe on a card. She was surprised!
