Antiques and Mirrors

I'm telling you, shopping sure wears a girl out! I have been on the hunt for some antiques for one of my clients. Atlanta has no shortage of great places to look for hidden treasures.

This is a Queen Ann Oyster Burl Walnut chest with bun feet, circa 1780. The wood is just gorgeous and is in unbelievable shape for how long she's been around.

This is the younger sister...circa 1840.
I found this and the one below in 2 different places, definitely same vintage.
Louis XVI, early 1900's.

Don't you just love those cords....not.
Even though a display, I would have done something with them.

18th century Rococo gilded wrought iron, early 20th century.
Isn't she lovely?
Louis XV, circa 1840.
Wood gilt, 19th century. I love mirrors. My design partner asked how many mirrors I wanted to use.  The living room and dining room are small, mirrors create a great illusion of 'larger'!
Not antique, but a purdy one.
I like to make sure all of the bedrooms I decorate have a good (long if possible) mirror so that guests can get a full view when getting dressed.
Distressed wood, reproduction.
This isn't for client but thought these were so much fun.
I think my kids in Washington state would like them!
Wood or iron.

Tradition with a Twist and LR Update

I am a traditional girl, I can't help it, it's the way my brain thinks.  My sister is excellent at modern. We make a good team!
Darryl Carter
I love this English barley twist gate-leg table.  Darryl Carter takes these pieces steeped in tradition and brings them current with the white upholstery, painted floors and modern artwork.

This beautiful 4 poster European bed and bench are flanked by modern side tables.
Under Spanish Moss
Mr. MD has a desk like this, just need to get him a lucite chair.  Not sure he would go for it, but I like it!
Houzz
My grandparent's business had this type of chest in many places, solid mahogany of course.  I love how many creative ways I have seen them painted with updated hardware.
Rue
I adore tufting and this chair is paired with a modern silver table.  Another painted chest in the background.
Darryl Carter
I was excited when I saw this Darryl Carter design featured in Elle Decor.  This is certainly not 'grannies are us', Duncan Phyfe mixed with modern cubes.

My own living room has been a work in progress for quite some time.
I started by painting the ceiling slate gray and the walls a creamy white.
See here for sofa reno.

Bringing in color...
...and art.
Amanda Talley art here
I found this bench at the Screendoor in Ashville, NC.  Looking for a fun fabric to jazz it up a bit.

Next in line will be a carpet change, lacquer the marble top table and frame the Amanda Talley.

Antiquing in the "OC"

Being house bound due to constant downpours and taking care of a loved one that is a bit under the weather, I took a virtual tour to Newport Beach, CA, via 1st Dibs and found a few things for my home. Thought I would share....such great eye candy!

Isn't this the most beautiful Architect's Cabinet?
It is from Belgium and dates back to 1880 and stands 8'10" high. It will be perfect in my living room and will make a lovely bar!

This is an early American primitive cupboard with the original paint. I wish I could show you the inside, turquoise in color!

I have a bathroom that has extra room and tall ceilings that is calling for this. It will be great to store extra linens and candles and yummy smelling soaps.

This is a beautiful 12' dining table 18th century from Spain.

The top is one piece, can you believe it? Gorgeous....my whole family can sit around this. Now all I need are some chairs...what do you suggest?

This is called a "Jail House" Iron Wine Cage, early 1800's.

The two doors in front open to reveal the wooden shelves. Wouldn't this be fun to fill up? Just right in the cellar that is cooled to the proper temperature.

Rare framed mirror from Italy, 18th c.

Hmmm...love this...now where to put it!

I'll take two of these French painted chests....
I have been on the hunt for just the right thing to go on each side of my bed...how about changing out the hardware? Something a bit funky!

HALO Designs

One of my very favorite showrooms to visit is Halo Styles, formerly G J Styles...
every time I visit Atlanta's Mart, I make a bee line to get to the 11th floor!

Theirs are mainly old English reproductions with a smattering of French and Swedish.

Barley twist or gate-leg....I adore.

I am fairly certain two of these chairs will be coming to my house.

Or maybe two of these.....hmmm, decisions.

Do you have a place for one of the Swedish clocks?

This is a fabulous sofa...about 8' long, and next year slip covers will be available in different fabrics.

This chair is a recliner and is most certainly making it's way to my house! DH wants a "kick back" chair as he calls it and I am not fond of them. This will certainly do!

It is very comfortable...

Trunks, trunks everywhere...these are some beauties...

Of course you know I love anything silver, just wish I had a place for these!

Halo is "to the trade" only, if there is anything that tickles your fancy, let me know and I will order for you .
Just send me an email!
