Textile Geek

My name is Renae Moore and I am a 'textile geek'.

Madeline Weinrib, a NY textile designer, designs with boldness and vivid colour.

It's hard to choose favorites...

...as one can see many different design stories.

Black and white usually call my name...

...but these lighter colours can add a freshness to most any room.

Not only does Madeline design fabrics,

but fabulous rugs as well.
she started out as a painter in 1998...

...and did her first rug collection almost as a lark.

I wish I wish I wish she would open a showroom in ATL.

She now has a boutique on the 6th floor of
ABC Carpet and Home
which was founded by her grandfather Max Weinrib.

Did I tell you I adore her designs?

Since her fabrics are to the trade, you see anything you likey,
I will get it for you!

Classic all 'done up'!

Cool chair, not sure how comfy!

Fleur de lis always reminds me of New Orleans.

She has taken her fabrics to these cute clutch purses.

How about a warm persimmon?

...or apple green?  (my fave)

table linens

this past spring, she introduce a line of wallpaper

Here is Miss Weinrib admiring Marimekko on the Upper East Side in NY and
showing how you can cut any of these fabrics to desired length and use as a table cloth.

Be sure and visit MR's website here and look at all of her fabulous designs.

Project Monday

I took a wee break from the desktop on Friday to go cook dinner and when I came back, no screen.   All of the usual rebooting techniques to no avail. I have seen this before, three times to be exact....burned up motherboard.  Those times covered by extended warranty, this one not.  Lost all my fave photos.  Oy.
Thankfully I have a laptop, so my Monday project has been getting everything on this computer to run my business and my household.  Did you know it can take hours?

I'm tired of sitting, need to take a load off my toosh!

Later...

Light The Way

I am a sucker when it comes to lamps and chandy's!

Fountain Chandy...just add your candles and you are all set.

The VAMP  got me hooked on Zentique, a fabulous furniture vendor, and I was so excited to see them at the America's Mart here in Atlanta.

Bell Ceiling Lamp

Floral Ceiling Lamp

Sunflower Cage Light
Can you say funky?  Love it.

Water Pipe Floor Lamp

Juet Floor Net Light

Juet Net Light-short
I have a place in mind.

Cage Light

Duke

Sutherland Lamp

Hudson Lamp

Lantern

Automotive Industrial Floor Lamp

Studley Lamp

They have some dandies, don't you think?  Lovin' the natural fibers on the lamp shades.
Zentique is to the trade only, BUT if you see anything you KNOW you cannot live without,
holla, I'll get it for you!

One of my very favorites is Barbara Cosgrove.  She is an awesome lamp designer and I make a point to go to her showroom every time I go to the Mart.

The heavy rustic base with a linen shade -  ahhh!

Of course silver and black are my favorite, that is what makes up my wardrobe!

If you can't use a tall one, here's a shorter version!

The ones below here are to just die for.

This is my Barbara Cosgrove fleur de lis lamp!  I 'happened' to be at the Mart a day before one of those 'cash and carry' days, and Miss Barbara herself sold me this lamp.  It had a 'booboo' on one edge of a 'fleur', so home it went with me at a great price.  A little brown shoe polish over the owie and it was as good as new! She is to the trade only as well....you know what to do!

You Inspire Me

I am so far behind on enjoying my favorite blogs and have finally emerged from mounds of sheets and towels after hosting 6 fabulous college students here for the 4th.

Who inspired you to begin blogging?

Lisa, who pens the gracious,  The Lisa Porter Collection
muses of reading one of her favorites -
one favorite leads to another right(?) -
and was sparked into thinking about her inspiration to start blogging.

I thought I would take her urging and tell you where my inspiration came from.

From a google search on design blogs I found....

the ever adorable Joni Webb
of Cote de Texas.

Cote de Texas

She mesmerized me by her novelette style of writing and fabulous photos and oh so witty humor.  She is one gracious southern lady and quick to share her home with her readers.

Cote de Texax

Her beautiful entry which like most designers gets restyled frequently.

Cote de Texas

Her family room is so inviting and comfy.

Michelle Morelan

She is famous I tell you!
She is the grand dame of blogging, one of the first and does it so well.  She has a tremendous following of people from all over the world and one very talented Canadian, Michelle Morelan of Schematic Life who rendered Joni's living room.

As we all know, bloggers' sidebars can be dangerous.  That is how I found many of you, from Joni's and others.  So I ask you?  Where did you get your inspiration to blog come from?
