Design Inspiration

Michele Morelan is one of my favorite 'go to' places to visit. I love that her hubby is a pilot and she has two sons...just like me!

She is a tremendous talent not only in interior design but an outstanding artist.
I envy her schematics....something I would love to learn.  She has a video series on 'how to' but my renderings look nothing like hers.
Visit her at her blog, A Schematic Life.
Be inspired.

Maureen Bower of Eclectic Revisted is a new friend of mine.  She had a beautiful sense of design and a lovely way about herself.

Project Monday

Projects on hold....

Sandwiched in

It is said that my age folks are called the 'sandwich generation'. Those that care for children and their parents.
Since my kids are grown and gone...

...I suppose it's an 'open-faced' sandwich.
Today I sit with my mother as we sit waiting for my father who is getting prepped for open heart surgery tomorrow.
A man, who by looking at him, is the picture of health and still walks 4 miles 4-5 days per week.  A man that by virtue of getting older has valves that leak.

I thought I would share with you the next few days some bloggers that have interesting things to share and beautiful designs to envy.  First up, my very good friend Lisa Porter, a jewel and creative I met (online and in person) through this crazy world we call blogland!

Visit her here...you will be delighted in what you see!

New Orleans field trip

This precious one is who got me on the plane to NOLA.
Her mom came into my life when she was 14 and I love her as my very own.  I view this little bundle as the first of my grandchildren.  Those of you that are already grandma's know the love felt and awe of our Creator that creates such miracles.

I was graciously invited to stay with my sweet friend Valorie of The Visual Vamp, and her tango man, Alberto Paz.  It was so much fun to meet Amanda Talley and visit her gallery, studio and home.

We caught her working.  She is such a sweet girl!
I know many of you know her work.
 A lovely piece in progress.

Guess what?  She now has fabric.

Got my wheels turning.

 Next stop.....Renaissance Interiors.
A resale store with many good finds.

This is just the coolest!  One way a chair, opened up, a table!

Crystal....these are amazing.

We then went to meet Bryan Batt, a New Orleanian and actor (Mad Men, Broadway) and owner of Hazelnut

He has a beautiful book being released the first of October, Big Easy Style.  I got a sneak peek! :)

Back home....

a glimpse of the projects going on today!

Still working on this beast....almost ready to stain. Did I mention how many staples, nails and glue?
Lots of work but it will be loverly!

The Hills are Alive

In beautiful North Carolina!

Fabulous blogger's weekend with these sistah's!

A weekend retreat in a lovely cottage in the mountains of North Carolina to gain inspiration (and drool) from the show house in Cashiers, a lovely quaint community nestled in the mountains.

Angela -  The Painted House - our stunning hostess with the VERY mostest
Shannon - Shannon Berry Design - our resident celeb, who had a beautiful guest room in last year's show house and took us to some of her fave stomping grounds
Lori - Lori May Interiors and her BFF Heidi (who is on her way to blogging herself)
and Moi!

Have I teased you enough?  You'll have to wait, more is coming!

A Gift for Moi?

There are so many gracious bloggers in blog land that occasionally have give aways.
Tamara who pens Nest by Tamara
hosted a lovely give away by
Molly Coddle who  produces a line of French and Italian tiles that can function as a trivet or decorative art piece.
Very few times do I put my name in the hat but I liked Molly's work...
well guess what?
I WON!
I love the way Molly wrapped the gift...in burlap with a pretty ribbon and a sweet note!

Be sure and go to Molly's website...
...and see her wonderful work.
Molly takes her love of France, Italy and photography and has created a line of decorative and functional tiles. You can purchase directly from her!

Bloggers and Blessings

It's no secret that the people we meet in blog land are a special breed.  We meet with our mutual love for design and making ours and others' surroundings lovely.

While traveling to Arkansas to visit Mr. MD who is there on business I had the most delightful afternoon with Mona Thompson.

She is one of the 'sisters' behind the beautiful interior design business and blog
Providence Ltd. Needless-to-say, we hit it off right away.  You would never know that we hadn't been friends for a lifetime.

We went to her shop in the Fabulous Finds Antique Mall.
She has a great eye for
'fabulous finds'!!

There is so much here I would love to have put in my suitcase to take back to Atlanta.

I love these gold leafed candelabras!
I spy a beautiful gate-leg table!

I am loving those candlesticks...I can see them made into beautiful lamps!

We then went to Mona's beautiful home.  I didn't want to be obnoxious taking pictures but  I was drawn to the sideboard in the dining room.
I had to get a close up
because this finish is in store for mine.

I had to snap this lampshade on the sconce.  Mona had it made...beautiful.

The blessing to me was an incredible afternoon with a firecracker of an adorable woman.

Thanks so much Mona!
